Blue Jackets signal Werenski to 6-year extension

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Zach Werenski to a six-year, $57.5 million contract extension Thursday by the 2027-28 season.

The 24-year-old Werenski, from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and the College of Michigan, has 65 targets and 124 assists in 335 profession NHL video games, all with the Blue Jackets. He has 4 targets and 9 assists in 29 playoff video games.

Werenski had seven targets and 20 assists in 35 video games final season.
