Premier League approves Boehly Chelsea takeover


The Premier League Board has authorized the proposed takeover of Chelsea by the Todd Boehly/Clearlake consortium, the league introduced on Tuesday.

“The acquisition stays topic to the federal government issuing the required sale licence and the passable completion of the ultimate phases of the transaction,” the league stated in an announcement.

“The Board has utilized the Premier League’s Homeowners’ and Administrators’ Check (OADT) to all potential Administrators, and undertaken the required due diligence.

“The members of the Consortium buying the membership are associates of the Clearlake Capital Group, L.P., Todd Boehly, Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter.

“Chelsea FC will now work with the related Governments to safe the required licences to finish the takeover.”
